Shri Adi Shakti Maa Durga is the most powerful and the ultimate root of all powers prevalent in this universe. The nine days of Navratri are dedicated to Maa Durga and she is worshipped in different forms in different days. These nine days of worship yield complete peace at heart and oneness with Maa Durga. Blessed are those devotees who fast and worship her during this period. It is a complete cleansing process for the mind and the body.

Nine days represent nine forms of Shakti. They are Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghata, Kooshmanda, Skandhmata, Katyayni, Kaalratri, Mahagauri & Siddhidatri. There is no difference among in all these forms and all of them are equally powerful to bless devotees. One should try to keep the Pooja simple as it suits one’s ability.

Astrologically, Mars would be transiting to Leo on 25th September i.e. the same day when Shardiya Navratri are beginning. Mars has been experiencing debilitation (weakness) since two months now. We all know that Mars is all about energy, zeal, action and decisiveness and no wonder that Maa Durga is the ultimate energy source of this universe. It appears as if Mars is going to gain a rebirth on this day. The nine days should be a good to initiate some fresh work or take a decisive stand for something.

Venus would be placed in Scorpio (Scorpio is ruled by Mars) and its governing deity is Maa Lakshmi. Pleasing the divine mother during these nine days empowers the Venus in everyone’s horoscope. It is a very good period to please the mother for gaining “Akhanda Lakshmi”. It is advisable to worship Shri Lakshmi Maa in her eight forms simultaneously with the normal routine Pooja during these nine days.

The eight forms of Shri Lakshmi are:

  • Adi Lakshmi or Maha Lakshmi (incarnation of Lakshmi as the daughter of sage Bhrigu)
  • Dhana Lakshmi ( giver of wealth)
  • Dhanya Lakshmi ( giver of agricultural wealth)
  • Gaja Lakshmi ( giver of animal wealth)
  • Santan Lakshmi ( giver of progeny)
  • Veer Lakshmi ( giver of courage and strength)
  • Vijaya Lakshmi ( giver of victory)
  • Vidya Lakshmi (bestower of knowledge)

Recite the mantra “Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu “A form of Lakshmi” roopen samsthita. Namastasye,Namastasye,Namastasye,Nano Namah” to please her. One can also recite “Shri Suktam” to please the divine mother.

Lastly ,Saturn is posited in Libra which happens to a sign owned by Venus. Saturn is experiencing exaltation ( a very powerful state) after 30 years. Once Venus gains strength then Saturn would gain more potency to deliver benefic results.

It is also advisable to recite “Shri Durga Argala Stotra” to overcome any kind of obstacles in life during this period.

Remember that Navratri has never meant that one should displease others on account of fasting or having a blast on meals during these days. It is very disheartening to see that many people tend to enjoy a complete feast during these nine days. Remember that we can fool others but not Maa Durga. Navratri is about pleasing the divine mother to forgive our sins and bless us with her grace so that we lead a meaningful life.
