Book Review: Chandrakala Nadi

Book Name: Chandrakala Nadi
Author: Jagannath Bhasin
Publisher: Ranjan Publications, 16, Ansari Road, Daryaganj, New Delhi - 110 002.

Today I purchased "Chandrakala Nadi", an astrology book based on Nadi branch of Vedic astrology. The book is written by my favorite author Late Sri J. N. Bhasin. Like his other books, it is quite useful reading. The most important feature of this book is, it tries to explain the rationale behind Nadi predictions using classical astrology principles.

As the author mentions in the introduction of the book, there are various Nadi texts like Nandi Nadi, Sukra Nadi, Bhujandar Nadi etc. in south India similar to Bhrigu Samhita, Ravan Samhita and Arun Samhita in north India where native can get full details of his life. Normally you have to give your thumb impression to the Nadi reader and the Nadi reader 'the astrologer' will come-up with your natal chart and other life details like your name and other family members name, profession etc.

Other then that he tries to get answers of some old confusion in our classical texts e.g. which house should be taken for father - 9th or 10th, and which planet should be taken for husband Venus or Jupiter etc.

Anyway an interesting read. The people who like this book will also like "Sapta Rishi Nadi", a similar text by the same author.

This is a great article for everyone who is interested in Astrology. And specially very helpful for astrology students. But what I think is not right is the name of Arun Samhita after Bhrigu Samhit. You are comparing Arun Samhit with Nadi Jyotish. It is very strange.

Mr. Pratik,

I guess you are confusing Arun Samhita (Lal Kitab) with actual Arun Samhita that is similar to Bhrigu Samhita. I am not talking about Lal Kitab.

There is some examples from Dr.B.V.Raman in his book Hindu Astrology and the west. On the other hand there is a short book by Sh.R.G.Rao Natal Chart From Palm by Ranjan Publication's. Mr. Rao explains a theory that how to find Rashi of a planet in radical by palm. Offcourse this is very complicated because he use the ridges of palm. I thought that this is the one theory how some astrologers especially from south find out your predictions in Nadi Leaves. I came to some conclusion's.
1 Like i said above from palm ridges or by Thumb ridges they found your chart they cross check it by asking you questions, and if correct then predict.
2 The question arise did this book contain all the peoples on earth's chart not only today but back and future too.Answer is,It contain's chart of the person whoever is blessed to find this book.As i supose the rishi's know this.
3If you go to find prediction techniques, you are in great fall, because these predictions are form spiritual seer's, we can say that this is the technique Nostradumus used.Which is lost in layers of time.
contact me on my email nitinmathur75@epatra.com we have a lot to talk about it.
Note. There is a book by Sepherial "The degrees of zodiac symbolized" which can show a simple way.

I had been to Chennai a few years ago to see the Mahasiva Nadi predictions. I think the trick is in their asking you questions to verify the details. They ask you questions like, is the first letter of your mother's name 'sa'? Or is the second letter of father's name 'ma'. They ask it repeatedly to get the right alphabets until they get the idea of what it is. The same is with the number of brothers and sisters one has. There is definitely some kind of trickery involved in the Nadi Astrology, at least at some places if not all. May be, I haven't been able to reach the right place.
