Navratri 5th Day: Worship Motherly Goddess Skanda Mata

Receive the blessings and be a part of Skanda Mata's ample grace by worshiping her on the 5th day of Chaitra Navratri, i.e. on April 4, 2014. Skanda Mata is the epitome of motherhood, she showers her endearment and love on her devotees and set them free from troubles and negativity of life.
5th day of Chiatra Navratri 2014 is observed on 4th April. This day is dedicated in the honor of the motherly Goddess Maa Skanda Mata. Maa Skandmata loves her son so much, that she is contended to be called on his name, Skanda. She is full of endearment and showers her grace and favor like a mother. Maa Skanda Mata has four arms, three eyes and she rides on a lion. In one hand, she holds the infant form of her son Skanda, another two hands are holding lotus flowers and fourth hand is raised upward for providing boon and showering grace on her devotees. She is also worshiped in another two forms, Parvati and Maha Gauri.
The rituals performed for worshiping Skanda Mata are almost similar to the rituals performed for other goddesses of Navratri. On this day, Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva are also worshiped along with Devi Skandamata. Devotees also observe fast in the honor of Maa Skanda Mata.
Mantra for worshiping Maa Skandmata:
या देवी सर्वभू‍तेषु माँ स्कंदमाता रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नम:।।

Meaning of Mantra: The Goddess who is present in the heart of every human being in the form of Skanda Mata (motherly goddess), I owe respect to that Mother Goddess.
