January 14, 2017, the day of Makar Sankranti, can change your life this year. Want to know how? You just have to go through this little piece and you are there on the path to success!

The auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti in 2017 is on 14th January 2017. This happens to be one of the most auspicious events during the new year. Astrologically, Sun turns Uttarayana on this day. It is believed that Sun gains Paksha Bala during this day. All auspicious events like marriage, housewarming, education initiation, deity worship and many more are initiated on this day.

The word Sankranti actually means Sun’s transit from Sagittarius to Capricorn sign. Since, Sun transits to Capricorn (Makar) zodiac, it has been termed as Makar Sankranti. Sun is known as the King of all the planets and it has been termed as the Atmakaraka. It signifies the soul; and the body has no meaning without the soul. It is also believed that an afflicted Sun in the horoscope can lead to Rajayoga Bhang. Whereas, a powerfully placed and unafflicted Sun can vanquish the ill effects of all other planets.

Sun signifies Father in Astrology. This is an auspicious day for all those sons/daughters who have non-conducive relationship with their father. An act of worship to Lord Sun can bring about a harmony in father-child relationship on this day. Not to forget that Sun turns auspicious on Makar Sankranti where Makar/Capricorn happens to be the zodiac sign owned by Saturn. The arch enmity of Sun & Saturn is well known. But they tend to part away with their enmity on this auspicious day.

All those who have Pitra Dosha in their horoscopes can get rid of it by worshipping Lord Sun on this day. A Pitra Dosha Hawan, donation and holy bath at a religious place can mitigate the ill effects of Pitra Dosha in the horoscope.

It is wise to offer Arghi/Jala to Sun during sunrise and donate white sesame (Til), jaggery and wheat to the needy/poor people. Recitation of Shri Vishnu Sahastranaam and Dwadasha Surya Naam Mala is also very beneficial. Seeking blessings from one’s own parents by touching their feet is also very auspicious on this day.

Recitation of Shri Vishnu Sahastranaam and offering Arghi to Lord Sun should be undertaken regularly from this day on to have a consistency in Lord Sun’s blessings in our life.

Stay Blessed!
