Planets in their orbits around the Sun are moving incessantly since time immemorial and such movements of planets are called transits in astrology. Each planet has its own orbit around the Sun. Therefore every planet has varying periods of transit in the orbit. The relative position as seen from the earth changes every moment.

The position of planets occupied in the sky at the time of birth is called the birth position of the planets and when drawn into a chart form is known as birth chart. It stamps an indelible mark on the life of an individual. Subsequent positions of planets occupied in transit become a most important and effective tool which helps in carving out the detailed delineation. These would manifest into important events in the life of the individual.

In Vedic Astrology the Rashi Chakra, the Bhava Chalit positions and the Navamsa chart are recommended to be used to study the transit analysis, though the other varga charts such as dreshkana charts, saptamsa, dasamsa chart, dwadasamsa chart and other divisional charts can also be used for verifying the accuracy of delineation.

It is important to note that Transits stimulate the events what is indicated in the birth chart and this makes transit analysis a very important and effective technique of predictive astrology. But it must be remembered that no transits however strong it may be, cannot give results that is not indicated in the birth chart.

Mars has its orbit outside the earth’s orbit. It revolves around the Sun in 687 days. It normally stays in one sign for 1 ½ months, but sometimes it occupies a sign for 3 months or more due to its retrograde, direct motion.

Mars enters Leo sign on 26th May 2010. It will remain in Leo till 20th July 2010.

According to Vedic Astrology Mars gives benefic results to the 3rd, 6th and 11th house positions from the janma rashi. This means that the benefic results will be felt by those persons who have their janma rashi as Mithuna, Tula and Meena rashi. The benefic results could be felt in the form of happiness, gains in wealth, overall satisfaction, success over the enemies, well being, authority and fame.

In Medical Astrology Mars in Leo gives a tendency to muscular rheumatism in the back, overheating of the blood, enlargement of the heart and palpitation, pain in the heart, suffocation and fainting, inflammation of the pericardium. Hence those natives who have a history of the above diseases need to take care irrespective of their janma rashi during this period.

Mars will enter Purva phalguni Nakshatra on 21st June 2010 and thereafter it will enter Uttara phalguni Nakshatra on 14th July 2010.
