In 2016, Surya Grahan (Solar Eclipse) is occurring twice. Let’s talk about the first Grahan (Eclipse) of the year. A Total solar eclipse, Surya Grahan, will be visible in India on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. It will be on Falgun Krishna Paksha Amavasya according to Hindu calendar. According to NASA, the surya grahan on 2016 March 9 is an Total Solar Eclipse (Purna Surya Grahan). It will be visible as a Total solar eclipse in India in the cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Nagpur, Haridwar, Shillong, Kolkata, Guwahati etc. And the second Solar Eclipse 2016, will not be visible in India.

Duration of the Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan):

  • Purna Surya Grahan (Total Solar Eclipse): 01:01 hrs (First Solar Eclipse - March 09, 2016)

  • Kankan Surya Grahan(Annular solar Eclipse): 05:87 hrs (Second Solar Eclipse - September 1, 2016)

The First Solar eclipse will be kumbha Rashi (Aquarious Sign) and in Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra whereas the second Solar eclipse will be in Singh Rashi (Leo Sign) and in Purva Falgun Nakshatra.
