Vivasvat Saptami 2010 date is July 17. Vivasvat Saptami , also known as Viwaswat Saptami, is a festival that comes in the Hindu month of Ashadh. According to Hindu calendar, it is observed on the seventh day of bright half (Shukla Paksha) of Ashadha. It is celebrated in honor of Lord Surya or the Sun.

According to ancient Hindu scriptures, Sun is one of main five deities worshipped. The Vedas consist of many Suktas or hymns in praise of Surya Dev. Among various names, Vivaswat is also one important name of Lord Surya in ancient Vedic texts.

One of the most popular mantra, “Gayatri Mantra” is also dedicated to Surya Dev or Lord Sun. The day of Viwasaswat Saptami is pivotal in many parts of India. The father of humanity, Manu, is also known as Vaivaswat because he is considered son of Lord Vivavasvat.
