4th day of Chaitra Navratri i.e. April 3, 2014 is dedicated to Devi Kushmanda, the fourth form of Maa Durga. Kushmanda refers to 'the cosmic egg' which signifies that she created the universe in the form of an egg, with her divine smile. She is the core of energy and inhabit deep within the Sun. This golden colored beautiful form of Goddess Maa Durga created the whole universe with her divine smile. She rides on a lion and has eight hands, that is why she is also known as Ashtabhuja. She carries weapons in her four hands, for abolishing all the negative energies like troubles and sorrows. She provide her devotees the energy for facing every situation of life with bravery and a smiling face.

Rituals performed for worshiping Maa Kushmanda are similar to the rituals for other goddesses of Navratri. Start the Pooja by worshiping Kalash followed by worshiping all the gods and goddesses including all the family members such as Laxmi, Jaya, and Vijaya, etc. Worship Devi Kushmanda after them by keeping flowers in your hands and chanting the Mantra.

या देवी सर्वभू‍तेषु माँ कूष्माण्डा रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नम:।।
Meaning of Mantra: The Goddess who is present in the heart of every human being in the form of Kushmanda (source of cosmic energy), I owe respect to that Mother Goddess.
