The ultimate source of divinity and peace, Maa Mahagauri will be worshiped on the 8th day of Chaitra Navratri, 2014 i.e April 7. Her grace, beautifies the souls of her devotees and provide them the immense peace and happiness. Honor her to receive her blessings, this Chaitra Navratri.

The 8th day of Chaitra Navratri on April 7, 2014 is dedicated to Maa Mahagauri. She got her name from her beautiful appearance and white complexion. Her beauty symbolizes purity and calmness. Maa Maha Gauri blesses her devotees with peace and goodness. The place which is blessed with Maa Mahagauri's favor, always remains contented. According to the ancient stories, Maa Mahagauri attained dark complexion while performing hard penance in the forests of Himalayas. Then, Lord Shiva cleaned her with the water of holy river Ganga, and again she attained her real beauty and white colored complexion.

Worshiping Maa Mahagauri on the eighth day of Navratri is considered auspicious for married women. She blesses them with a prosperous married life.

Some people also perform the ritual of Kanjak on Ashtami or 8th day of Navratri. Small girls are worshiped as the form of Devi and Prasad (blessed food) is presented to them to receive their blessings. People worship Maa Mahagauri by chanting Mantras and Bhajans.

या देवी सर्वभू‍तेषु माँ महागौरी रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नम:।।

Meaning of Mantra: The Goddess who is present in the heart of every human being in the form of Devi Mahagauri (symbol of purity and peace), I bow to that Mother Goddess.
