Akshaya Tritiya 2017 Date

Akshaya Tritiya will be celebrated on 28th April in 2017. It is celebrated to observe the birth of Lord Parshurama, the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to our Scriptures, this day is marked as the beginning of Sat Yuga and Treta Yuga. On this day, commencing into a new venture proves to be very fruitful in future. Donating watch, kalash, hand-fan, umbrella, rice, lentils, salt, ghee, sugar, clothes, vegetables, tamarind, fruits, sattu, cucumber, watermelon is meant to be auspicious.

Legend behind Akshaya Tritiya

• Parshuram Jayanti According to our Scriptures, Lord Parshurama was born on this day who was the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. That’s why Akshaya Tritiya is also celebrated as Parshurama Jayanti or Parshurama Teej.
• Mahabharata According to our Scriptures, Lord Parshurama was born on this day who was the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. That’s why Akshaya Tritiya is also celebrated as Parshurama Jayanti or Parshurama Teej.
• Krishna-Sudama This legend of Akshaya Tritiya is known to be the most important one. Lord Krishna had a poor Brahmin friend, Sudama. Once Sudama visited Lord Krishna in order to seek for some financial help.
  Lord Krishna welcomed his friend with great joy and celebration. This made him even more embarrassed. Sudama was feeling ashamed for incapable that he is not able to present anything but some Poha. but Lord Krishna enjoyed the Poha presented by his dear friend.
  Being overwhelmed by the treatment, Sudama was unable to ask for the help. Therefore, he returned his home empty handed. But after reaching the home, Sudama was left stunned. His home was turned into a huge and beautiful palace and this was a boon by his friend Lord Krishna. Since that day, it is celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya.
