It came into limelight when it won the first season of IPL in the year 2008. It was considered the weakest team of the IPL 2008 but under the captaincy of Shane Warne it won the IPL trophy. The owner of the team is Lachlan Murdoch, Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra. After the first season the performance of the team has been dismal.
