It is regarded as the tenth sacrament in the list of sixteen sanskars. It is also called Yajnopavit Sanskar. After the Karnavedh Sanskar or Ear Piercing Ceremony of a child is performed, Upanayana Sanskar rites are carried out with customs. Importance of Upanayana Muhurat 2022

Religious, scientific and astrological reasons are hidden behind performing Janeu Sanskar i.e. Upanayana Sanskar. Looking at the religious aspect, the three sutras or threads worn during Janeu Sanskar are considered to be the symbol of Tridev i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Five knots are created on the thread of Janeu, which symbolize Brahma, Dharma, Ardha, Kama and Moksha.

On the other hand, if we talk about the scientific importance of Upanayana Sanskar, according to medical science, there is a very subtle vein on the back of the person, which goes from the right shoulder to the waist and flows like an electric current. Wearing a Janeu helps the person to gain control of bad disorders like unnatural sexual desires and anger etc. by maintaining this vein in its right state. The Janeu thread helps to keep this vein, that is going from the right shoulder to the waist in its right state and develops humanitarian qualities within a native. Wearing Janeu helps natives get rid of bad thoughts and adds to his age, strength and intelligence.

Along with scientific and religious significance, Upanayana Sanskar also has astrological significance. We all know that there are a total of nine planets in astrology, which we know as Mars, Mercury, Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu, and the nine strings of these three threads of Janeu symbolize these Navagrahas. According to the scriptures, the person wearing a Janeu attains the blessings of the Navagrahas.

Apart from this, the colour of Janeu is also related to Vedic Astrology. Let us explain to you how? We all know that Janeu is a white-coloured thread and white colour is related to the planet Venus, which is considered to be a benefactor of beauty, work, pleasure and art. While performing the Upanayana Sanskar, Janeu is painted yellow before adorning it around the child, and in Vedic Astrology, yellow is associated with the planet Jupiter, which is believed to be a benefactor of knowledge, Guru, good deeds etc.

Janeu Sanskar 2022 Rituals

In Hinduism, Janeu or Upanayana Sanskar is treated as a major event, like marriage. A yagna to carry out the Sanskar is initiated, in which the whole family along with the child takes part. On the day of Janeu Sanskar, firstly the child gets his head shaved. After shaving, apply the sandalwood and saffron paste on the part where the hair is removed after he has bathed. Now take a thread and make the child wear a Janeu or white sacred thread from the left shoulder to his right arm.

During this Sanskar, a havan is also conducted, in which all the deities are worshipped and eulogised. Allow the child to wear his undergarments and garland before getting seated in front of the Yajnivedi. Keep in mind that the clothes worn by the child should not be stitched from anywhere. Put a yellow coloured cloth around the child's neck and ask him to wear a Khadau. Now invoke the Gods and Goddesses and make the child promise to follow the scriptures and teachings. Ask the child to sit with children of the same age and feed them Churma. Now after bathing the child, the Guru, Father or elder brother present there must tell the child while reciting the Gayatri Mantra, "From today onwards, you have become a Dwija".

After this, make the person wear a Mekhala as per the social stature, in which a Brahmin child should wear a Munj, a Kshatriya child must adorn the thread of a Bow, while a Vaishya child should wear a wool thread. Give a stick along with the Mekhala to those kids and ask them to beg in front of the family members, relatives and near and dear ones present in the ceremony. The child running away from the house with the stick on his shoulder should then say, "I am going to Kashi to study". Later, some people catch the native and bring him back by making him greedy regarding marriage. And after this action, the person is considered a Brahmin and this Sanskar is accomplished.
