Horoscope & RSS Feed are back

As I mentioned earlier, traffic on AstroSage.com has increased a lot and hence we have to move to a new and more powerful server to manage that much traffic. Due to this moving process, some of the feautres like daily horoscope and RSS feed became unavailable. Most of the features are restored now, but if you still find any feature not working, please let us know.

AstroSage.com Server Upgradation

To keep up with the increased number of visits, we are upgrading infrastructure for AstroSage.com. During the upgrade process, some of the AstroSage.com features may not be working. Sankranti/ Lohri/ Pongal Greetings and Forecasts

This is my first post in year 2009. So would like to wish happy new year to all my readers. As we are also close to Makar Sankranti, I would also like to wish Happy Sankranti, Happy Pongal and Happy Lohri. Wish all these festivals bring joy and prosperity to you.

On the 14th January 2009, Sun will leave Sagittarius (Dhanu) and enter Capricorn (Makara). This transition of Sun from 'Dhanu' Rasi (Sagittarius) to 'Makara' Rasi (Capricorn) marks the starting of Uttarayana and celebrated in India by different names like Pongal, Lohri and Makar Sankranti.

Here is my general thinking on the planetary positions. Sun will be joining Jupiter, Rahu and Mercury in the sign Capricorn. Mars will also joining this combination on 27/28. So this is going to be an interesting combination of 5 planets in a sign. According to some mundane astrologers this period will mark start of political difficulties and disputes. There will be disagreements and difference of opinion which will lead to division.

Fiery Sun, Mars and Jupiter in watery sign may also indicate severe earth quake, fire incidents and blasts. As Rahu will have to face Jupiter, Mars and Sun, there will be incidents against lower castes and minorities.

Jupiter is also significator of moeny and finance. Jupiter is in its neecha rashi Capricorn and Sun is also joining enemy's sign. It shows that the economy will continue facing difficulties and volatility will still there in the share markets.

These are just general observations and I hope Sun's transition to northern hemisphere will bring prosperity and good luck to all of us.

Varshphal (Annual Prediction) is Back

We are adding frequent features to AstroSage.com and as a result of a recent change, we had to disable Varshphal (annual prediction) feature. As this is year ending period, everyone wants to see his/ her predictions for the coming year i.e. year 2009. I received tons of requests to make it available as soon as possible. Keeping those requests in mind, we made it high priority request and worked on it. I am happy to tell that Varshphal is now back with more predictions. Please have a look and let me know your feedback. For seeing Varshphal, you need to create your birth chart (kundli) and then you will find Varshphal on the left side of the menu with the title 'Varshphal (Annual Predictions)'.

Now You Can Add New Cities to AstroSage

There was a bug in AstroSage.com (our free online horoscope matching and janam kundali software) which was not allowing users to add new cities to the AstroSage city database. If you didn't have your city in the existing city database, you had to use the nearby city which is not good for astrological calculations. I am happy to tell that this bug has been resolved and now you can add new city to the AstroSage.com city database. You just need to type the city name at first step of birth chart/ horary chart creation, and AstroSage will guide you through city addition process in case the entered city didn't exist in the database. Please check and let us know your feedback.

Also due to a recent server shift, feedback form on AstroSage was not working. Now it is corrected and you can give your feedback by going to the feedback page at http://www.astrosage.com/feedback.asp.

As you might know that recently we have added a new 'print' feature on AstroSage.com. We got feedback that the print quality is not very good. We are working on improving the print quality and the high quality printouts should be available latest by the next week. So keep an eye on the announcements here.

You might be wondering where was I, as you didn't see any blog post here. Actually I was busy in making some enhancements to www.AstroSage.com, so that it becomes more useful for the people. One such recently added feature is "Print" feature in AstroSage.

I am extremely pleased to announce that now you can take printout of horoscopes/ birth charts/ kundlis/ janam patri from AstroSage.com. In absence of a FREE solution for printing kundlis, people have to struggle with all sort of technical complexities. We have seen recent discussions on software where members struggled to get chart using a free software. Now with this new functionality, you have following advantage –

1. Take prints of detailed astrology calculation on one signle page
2. Share horoscope online on the email as well as on the web

Now AstroSage.com can generate the image of a page which can give you a formatted output. Right now, I have added three pages as follows –
1. KP Page – it gives you planetary positions, cuspal positions, significators, ruling planets etc.
2. Shodashvarga Page – It gives you all 16 divisional charts on one page.
3. Main Page – It gives you lagna chart, navamasa chart, ashtakvarga, chalit positions etc.

Once you create a chart using AstroSage.com, look for KP print page and other print pages. Some links are marked with "new" so that it can be located easily.

You would have noticed that our websites www.AstroSage.com and www.AstroCAMP.com has grown tremendously. We have added lots of pages and features to these websites and as a result of this it has become difficult to locate the right feature/ content. I am pleased that our two new features will help in in solving these problems.

The first feature is the feature for bookmarking. You will see a bookmark button on the right side of the website where you can bookmark our pages with your favorite bookmark engine like del.icio.us.

The other feature is Google search feature. Now you can search our both the websites together using Google search. You will find search box on the right side, above the bookmark button. I am Google website search feature will be very helpful in locating the right content/ feature.
